A Layover in Sydney!

Image
Well, we are finalllyyyyy here in New Zealand! We made a pit stop in Sydney when we had an extra long layover there. I'm so glad that we did, I don't know when I would have ever gotten the chance to go to Australia in the future. Here are some of the photos from our excursion! We went down to what's called the Circular Quay (said like circular key). It's basically the area around this part of the harbor. The Circular Quay has the opera house, a large garden area...kind of like Sydney's version of Central Park, a museum dedicated to the immigrants (and by immigrants I mean criminals :-) ) that came into Australia back in the day, as well as various shops, etc. It was the perfect place for us to spend our layover. Jayce and his siblings in front of the museum of "The Rocks." The Rocks is the area where Jayce's ancestor sailed into the harbor--he was a chicken theif. :-) Aboriginal street performers! Enjoying the beautiful wildlife in Australia...Ja...

The Bean

Almost a year and a half ago Jayce and I were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity. At the time, I found my fortune to have three pregnant bridesmaids quite hilarious and I rather enjoyed it. Rebekah and Kimber I had known about for months (obviously from their condition in the picture) but Lindsey I heard about just days before the wedding. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take fun pictures with them at the wedding. Well ladies and gentlemen, it is true...I am no longer looking at an empty belly! This was taken at 6 weeks, I'll be 16 weeks in two days. :-) I'm due May 29th! Frequently asked questions: 1. Have you been sick? I for sure have not had as worse of a first trimester as some women that I've talked to. However, it has not been "fun" by any means. I have a love hate relationship with food. Instead of getting hungry (which by the way is about every hour and a half) I just start to feel sick. Then I don't really want t...

True Story

Image
Fact : Sometimes I am brainless. Meaning, sometimes I act in ways in which it would seem as though my brain had shut down completely for a few moments. Exhibit A: This evening I went over to the dance majors Christmas party in the Richards Building for a half an hour after work before heading up to the sewing lab. It was great! Yummy food, a white elephant gift exchange, in which I got these lovelies: and door prizes, which consisted of itunes gift cards and yummy cans of hot chocolate. On the very last $10 gift card, I could not believe my ears when they called out "Sarah Porter!" I was excited, that's $10 more towards Christmas music and that's a big deal. After the door prizes were over, I threw away my plate and cup and started to leave. My first brainless move was realizing I had left my purse. As I turned back to get my purse I realized that I had also misplaced the gift card. Somehow in the few minutes it had taken for me to throw everything away and start wa...

Here is what I have been looking forward to the last couple of months: #1--Going to California for Thanksgiving at my fantastic Aunt and Uncle's in Palo Alto . As my dad would say, "Palo Alto is paradise." Plus, these champs will be there this year: And I'm sure we will be eating a lot of this: And it's been confirmed that we will be watching this : And oh how we love the company of Aunt Tee and Uncle Ken! I can't wait to step off the plane and smell California and jump into the car with Aunt Tee ! Then after the craziness of the semester we will take off from this: And then end up here: Auckland, New Zealand With these fine people: Doing some of this: Definitely some of this: And celebrating this!!!: Oh how I love the holidays! All that they represent and celebrate, the good feelings that come from them, the people I get to be with, and the memories that are made! These last two weeks of school have been sooooo slloowwwww and I just can't wait for fal...

Halloween 2010

Image
It took Jayce and I a long time to figure out what to be for Halloween this year. Finally one day I was picking an outfit to wear out and I went to one of my black shirts and thought, "But I always wear black...I got it! I always wear black!!" And thus it was decided that Jayce and I would be: "EMO " dun..dun..dun...! Happy emo's! It was hard to stay in character for too long... At our ward Halloween party: "Best Family Theme" :-) Go Andrus'! Our team won a gift card to go out to Cold Stone as a group family home evening. NICE! $100 bills, oreo, Princess Peach & Luigi, and the emo kids, one fine looking team! The Pettit's made the perfect Barbie and Ken from Toy Story 3! These are some of our neighbors...they're fun. :-) Another costume I just COULD NOT pass up posting was my nephew's. My sister made the costume all by herself and it turned out so awesome! Hahaha, I love this little nacho! I wish that I could have taken more picture...

Jayce and I lucked out because two of my friends gave us their tickets to the homecoming game because they couldn't make it. It could be the last BYU football game we go to for a while, so we were glad that it worked out. Let's be honest- I just like to dress up in BYU stuff and then crowd watch once I get there, but Jayce really enjoys watching the games so I was happy that he could see another one. Earlier on Saturday we went to the BYU Homecoming parade with friends in the ward! It was my first time attending and well worth it. I can't believe this is my last homecoming! Jayce was the highlight of the parade. :-) He was riding his bike with BYU EMS. We have enjoyed celebrating a lot of birthdays the last couple of months. It turns out all of Jayce's siblings were born in September and October, with Jayce finishing it all off in early November. It makes for a fun/crazy few months! Jayce and I participated in our first murder mystery dinner! SO FUN! I think this will h...

Hello September, Tell Me How You Doin'

Image
This is how my September started: Just plain mm..mm..good. I made these gooey treasures for this: My freshmen year reunion!! Oh boy did I love freshmen year, it brings back such great memories. I could probably devote a whole post just to freshmen year...maybe I will someday. Long live the BYU 96th ward. Girls will be girls... And so we now progress to Labor Day, a grueling day really. Quite fitting for say, a marathon? That's right ladies and gentlemen, IT HAS PASSED! I have officially run in my first marathon with these lovely ladies! (On a side note: I wish I had decided to smile normally in this picture, but I'll blame it on exhaustion. Buy hey, it makes me laugh, so why not you too!?) The night before the Marshall's TOTALLY pampered us! They cooked us a fantastic Sunday dinner full of yummy carbs. I'm always amazed at how awesome the people from Jayce's stake in Colorado are. Anxiously waiting for the race to begin. We weren't worried though because of the...
