Corrie Ten Boom

This month in my ward's book club we read The Hiding Place and I LOVED it. I want to be like Corrie Ten Boom...just ask Jayce, that's what I kept on leaning over and telling him as I got further and further into the book. It's about a woman named Corrie Ten Boom and her family from Haarlem, Holland. They were a major part of the anti-Nazi underground in Holland during World War II. They arranged safe havens for Jews all over the country and hid a number of Jews in their own home, which had a "secret room" installed in it. They were finally caught by Nazi soldiers and Corrie and her sister, Betsie, go to a number of awful jails and finally end up at a women's extermination camp in Germany called Vught. The story is full of inspiring messages, stories, and miracles that occur during this journey. Essentially, it all revolves around Christ-like love. A Taste of New Zealand

Needless to say our Christmas vacation in New Zealand was everything we hoped for and more! We got to see Jayce's parents again, we went to quite a few beaches, watched movies, took walks, caroled, met fabulous New Zealander's, relaxed, went sailing, had nurf gun wars, ate Pokeno's ice cream, and had yummy taste tests! It was a perfect break. Jayce and I both came back refreshed and ready to jump into second semester. We even got to stay in California for a couple of days after we got back from New Zealand to visit the Waldner's and be there for little Jayden's baby blessing. We spent our first couple of days in New Zealand just vegging around the house. We went to the lake by their house too, but we didn't want to do too much until the full party had assembled. Jayce's dad was still on the island of Niue when we got there and Lindsey and Josh were fighting through quite the airplane fiasco to reach us in Auckland.
