What's new with the Porter's?

Image
1.) Jayce and I got to go to Salt Lake last night to meet my great aunt and her family for dinner in the Lion House. She is such a sweet woman. She rented out a room upstairs and picked out a great dinner. I love Lion House rolls. Then we all played a few Christmas games. There was one where we passed brown paper bags along while Aunt Beverly read the story of the 12 Days of Christmas and every time that she said "a" we had to pass our bag to the left. Jayce ended up with the jackpot bag with a $5 bill in it. I got 4 quarters- laundry money!! The whole gang. So, Jayce and I are standing next to my great aunt Beverly and her husband Chick (yes, Chick). The other adults are my Dad's cousins and their children. We are kind of the odd balls but that's okay! 2.) Jayce is coaching a basketball team of 7th graders with our brother-in-law, Josh, again through the Jr. Jazz basketball league. Sadly they haven't won a game yet, but they shall prevail! Last year Jayce and J...

Thanksgiving Happiness

Image
Jayce and I were fortunate enough to be able to go to my Aunt and Uncle's house in California for our Thanksgiving break. It was a greatly needed time of relaxation. My Aunt Tee is always the best of hostesses and so welcoming. With the purchases of Christmas presents, two movies, fabulous meals (and chocolates), and a Cirque du Soleil show we were very spoiled. :-) We had plenty to be thankful for during our break. My Grandma Terry Jayce and I in front of the Cirque du Soleil tent--that is no puny/easy set up tent. We were amazed with the whole production. From the mechanics and technology to the incredible talents of the cast it was AWESOME. "OVO" Not to mention that my sister in law, Lindsey, gave birth to a darling baby boy named Porter a few days before we left. Don't we just look precious holding a baby? :-)

Sarah made me a wonderful birthday cake for my 23rd Birthday. It's a good thing there were only two sparklers. There is nothing like good friends and male bonding. Sarah gave me two birthday gift certificates for a much needed suit(I have been using the same one since before my mission) and for a winter jacket. Dinner at Tucano's(Mmmm mmm GOOD!!): Anybody know how to brazilian dance, cuz I sure didn't. The final result of my birthday winter jacket. It has reflectors too!!

Halloween Fun

Image
Jayce and I finally decided to be "Jack and Jill" for our ward Halloween party! I must say it turned out pretty good for throwing it all together right before the party. Jayce's glorious crown has a band aid trying to hold it together, after all, "Jack fell down and broke his crown..!" We also thought the ketchup would add a nice touch. :-) Lindsey and Josh won a prize for their clever speed bump and construction worker costumes. It pays off to have 2.5 family members around Halloween time! "Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a (water bottle..) of water! Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jilly came tumbling after!" We thought about chucking ourselves down Y mountain right before the party to make ourselves truly authentic, but we just couldn't find the time... My fabulous ballet 5 and ballet 6 classes! We had dress up day at the studio on Wednesday for kicks. They crack me up.

6 Month Anniversary!

Image
Jayce and I have officially been married for half a year ! Yesterday was our six month anniversary. Crazy how time flies, we could not believe it. Half a year seems like such an achievement but it flew by so stinking fast! I wonder what it will be like to reach 25 years, or 50, etc. Can't wait. :-) Above is a picture of Jayce before dinner. The day did not turn out quite as I had anticipated, but come what may and love it, right? So, we ended up actually sitting down to eat around 9:45 p.m., pretty late for dinner, but I wanted to celebrate no matter what. Shout out to Carissa Rasmussen because I stole the recipe for the pasta dinner off of her blog. It's soooo good too. We even pulled out our honeymoon glasses to have some sparkling cider. Isn't he just the cutest? I was so excited to give Jayce this gift, but the beautiful lettering I had in mind for "Love the people" turned out to kind of look like a 5th grader's project..so maybe one day I'll try to m...

Homecoming!

Image
Friday night Jayce took me to married couples homecoming with Lindsey and Josh! Tucano's catered. It was awesome. Mindy Gledhill also performed and then Humor U provided stand up comedy. They were pretty stinking funny. It was totally worth the $25! We just wish that there had been dancing afterwards. :-) We all laughed because the whole shebang ended at 8:30! Haha, all the other homecoming dances and things ended at midnight, but not for married couples. We made up the time by going home and watching a few more episodes of LOST. We are proud to say we are about half way through the third season now. What skill.

A little update

Image
Jayce and I finally took down all of the wedding announcements that we acquired over the summer. Now our fridge is so bare! Weddings are so fun though. :-) We're just waiting for the next wave of friends to get married so that we can start building up all over again, haha. Life is pretty good in the Porter apartment at the moment. School, work, and church can make life pretty crazy sometimes, but all in all we're loving it. How productive are you being if you don't have a little bit of stress in you life anyways, right? ;-) We had a nice and relaxing conference weekend this passed weekend as well. We watched the two Saturday sessions in the Wilk because Jayce was on shift with EMS, plus we were studying up there (I know..you get married and suddenly your social prime time becomes homework time. Weird.). We decided to watch the Sunday sessions from the comfort of our own apartment as well. It was great. We had french toast in the morning, watched Conference, read, I scrapboo...

Ode to Theatre Ballet

Image
Well, this is the first year in fifteen years that I will not be performing! I decided to focus more on my classes and on teaching ballet at a studio in Orem than to do BYU's Theatre Ballet. Last night I went to World of Dance, which was one of my favorite things to do when I was on company. I was accompanied by Jayce (such a loving husband to miss the football game to take me to a dance concert :-) ) and four other girls who also aren't doing company this year either. All of the performers did great! World of Dance is always so exciting because it's all of the touring companies doing some of their best pieces. If you have never been, go next year! The performance brought me flashbacks from the past as I remembered all the good things that dance has brought me over the years, especially seeing such good friends up on the stage. Nothing bonds girls together more than spending 15 1/2 hours a week in the RB rehearsing and taking class. I love them all dearly! Here are some...

It was so nice to have a three day weekend after the first week of school to plan ahead for the rest of the semester! Although, it was a sad thought to realize that there is nothing else until Thanksgiving break. Well, Jayce and I slept in on Saturday and Sunday, so we decided we wanted to get up earlier on Monday and do something active to start the day. We got some friends from the ward together and decided to hike the Y! I've become a big fan of hiking, although I'm by no means an avid hiker. I wish! I can see it becoming a hobby of some sorts later in life though. The climbing process always seems to be pretty grueling while you're going up, but once you reach the top it's so great! The view, your body is on an exercise high, you feel like you are on top of the world, etc. It was a fantastic way to start the day. If I only had the time to do that every day and Timp on Saturdays, I'd be FIT! Kirkman's, Quick's, Porter's, and Pingree's (Hope I got ...

Cabin Fever and Terry Family

Image
Cabin Fixin! A week ago we spent some time up at the cabin fixing things up a bit. Since we're here enjoying weekend get-a-ways up at the cabin while the Porter's are serving over in New Zealand, we think it's only fair that we pitch in our part. Staining Stud. As you can see, while Jayce stained the deck, I made sure to stay with him and give him moral support. We pulled up some nasty suckers. Laurel and Jessica accidentally touched a certain part of some of the weeds that made their skin burn and blister a little bit. Ouch. A Couple Other Random Tid-bits: So, I thought I'd take a moment to just show off my cute family. They are some of the biggest Cougar Football fans in the Ashburn, Virginia area. My Dad has started to send me lots of pictures from home now that he has an iphone, making it super quick and easy. This is my latest and greatest: This is probably one of the greatest things EVER ! For Ben's birthday my sister made James a wig to match Ben's afro!!...

Taking Jayce Home :-)

Image
Well, now that we have been married for four months, I finally got to show Jayce my home in Ashburn, Virginia! We were there for a little over a week. Within the first few days we had an open house with friends and family. It was an outdoor bbq and it turned out lovely! My Mom and Dad put a lot of preparation into it, for which we are very grateful. We had a really good turn out too. It was nice to show my hometown that Jayce isn't made up! Haha. Colorful Terry's (and spouses): Ben and Rebekah Stay with new baby James, Porter's, Mom and Dad Terry, Rachel Terry, Talia and David Terry with darling Kathryn Terry. :-) Photographers of the night! My sister Rachel and her boyfriend Todd. This is Mrs. Startsman, one of my old dance teachers...I get excited when I see her. :-) We celebrated my birthday at home with the tradition of a Wegmen's tart. Baby James loves being in pictures. Probably one of my top three favorite things about my new nephew: his pouty face. This picture...
