Love is in the air...!

Our very first Valentine's Day as a married couple has come and gone! It was quite the weekend. Friday night we went rollerskating-Jayce's favorite date-with some friends from our ward. Among our fellow skaters at the rink was a 14-year-old girl's birthday party, a small crew of high schoolers, and the rest were pretty much super cool middle schoolers (which by the way, were 10x better on their skates than I was). Us married college students fit right in. :-)
Saturday was pretty normal during the day. It was the usual with rehearsals, basketball, hospital, and studying. Saturday night was quite the highlight however. We strolled on into the cultural hall of our church building to attend the Stake Valentine's Dance. Whooo! When we first got there we thought it was going to be pretty lame and decided we would probably get seconds of chocolate fondue, wait a little bit, and then leave. Low and behold the night developed into greatness! More couples started to show up and there was a handful of couples from our ward who came. Before we knew it we were learning how to waltz and cha-cha, we were slow dancing, swing dancing, doing the electric slide, cha-cha slide, cotton eye joe, the macarena and all sorts of other classic stake dance dances. It was so much fun! We got a kick out of each other and watching other couples. It was hilarious.
Finally, we reach Sunday. Jayce woke up early to hide little love notes in my make-up case, scriptures, hymn book, cookbooks, etc. so that I could find them throughout the day. Tres cute. He also made pink chocolate chip waffles with pink lemonade! I feel a family tradition coming on. Church was excellent. We are loving the Sunday School class that we are in right now. For the third hour we were in nursery where we got to take care of the one little boy that was there that day. After church we came home to an apartment filled with the aroma of a roast in the crock pot. So yummy. It was the first roast I've ever made! (I had to call my mom in the grocery store to ask questions about what to buy) Luckily it turned out pretty good! We had roast with vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy, and brown sugar muffins (thanks to the Bell's!). To top it off there was a yummy chocolate pudding pie. Yay for a fun and successful first Valentine's Day!
