One Big Fat Weekend

I kicked off my weekend by taking a public & non-profit finance test (which didn't go as well as the first one...probably because I ran out of time to study..!) and Jayce kicked it off in the research lab up on campus. Friday night I had my first of three DancEnsemble in Concert shows. It was such a great show. Jayce, Joel, Laura, and Scotty all came Friday night and it made me so happy!

This is Tricia and I right before the first show, getting ready for Ashley Bradshaw's dance, "Letting Go, Looking Forward." The performance went great.

The show ended around 9:30pm and at 10:00 friends came over to our place so that Scotty could open his mission call! This is round two for Mr. Scotty Warczak. He's a good friend from freshmen year who got his call to Scotland freshmen year (I know right? Scotty going to Scotland). He was a few weeks away from going into the Missionary Training Center when he found out that he had cancer. He's spent the last two years going through therapy and is finally cancer free. He had to resubmit his papers and go through the entire process all over again, but now he is going and we are so happy for him! He was called to serve in the Salt Lake City mission and reports in a few months. He is going to be GREAT!
A bunch of the freshmen year girls came over to watch Scott open his call. After the destination was revealed we all chatted for a while and then Jayce and I went to Wendy's to grab some dinner (don't judge!) then we came back and watched this week's episode of LOST with Lindsey and Josh. Let's just say it was a late night.

Saturday morning Jayce and I rolled out of bed and put on our running shoes for the 5k Rex Lee Run for cancer. We ran it in thirty minutes..yeah, that's 3 10 minute miles. We are sooo fast. Haha, not! I got a feel for my first official race/run though and it was great to do it with Jayce by my side to keep me going. Jayce said he wants to do the 10k next year too.

Right after the run Jayce and I booked it home to so that Jayce could grab his basketball before heading off to his last Jr. Jazz game this season. He and Josh must be great coaches because their team won the tournament for the second year in a row! Hopefully this means free Bee's games tickets again. Woot!

After Jayce's game we had just enough time to go home and shower before Jayce dropped me off at the RB for my matinee performance and he headed to the hospital to volunteer. The matinee didn't go as well for me as the Friday night show, but hey, you win some, you loose some. After that Jayce picked me up and we headed back to the Wash Hut to finish our laundry because it needed desperately to be done. Then we headed home to fold it, make some Hamburger Helper (I know, we're such healthy eaters...), and watch part of Anastasia. :-) Then it was time for my last and final show! Jayce dropped me off at the RB before work and the show went GREAT this time! I was so happy. I loved the pieces I was able to dance in and everyone was just on fire. It went so smoothly. Friends from the ward even came and I was so grateful because I had been missing my family all day. I was so used to them coming to just about every show I was in back at home and after the depressing feeling after the matinee of walking out to meet nobody, it was so nice to see some friendly faces there rooting me on. Jayce was there to pick me up with a pretty purple tulip too. It was a very busy weekend, but also really rewarding. I love performing, it's just the best.

  2. By the way, we so wish that we could have been there to be your family support! WE WANT TO SEE OUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW DANCE! I hope you have video of every performance so that we can watch for days when we get home. Keep it up, what a blessing it is in your life ---and many others!
