Hunger Games

The Hunger Games movie premiere has come and gone and we had a pretty fun time with it. Thursday evening Jessica and Scott came up to join us in Draper and everyone had a "Capitol Feast" consisting of "Sleep Syrup" (Martinelli's), "Stream Water," "Nightlock" (blackberries), District 11 Bread, bread from the Mellark bakery, and "Lamb Stew" (Potato Soup).

We also had a Tessarae system where you had to write your name down every time you took more portions. At the end we drew a boys name and a girls name and the tributes had to do...the dishes! I was chosen, but lucky for me Jessica volunteered as tribute. :-)
We played a trivia game and then spent a couple hours making all of these shirts, but I must say they turned out rather well. Just handmade stencils and bleach in a spray bottle! You can't quite see the cool details of the spray of the bleach in these pictures, but trust me, they look really neat in real life.
...and then we made our way to the 12:01 a.m. showing of The Hunger Games!

**Collective romantic swooning sigh**
We were pretty wasted the next day, but we had a blast together and still fit in some fun stuff on Friday. Friday night we all camped out on the deck to try these spiffy sleeping bags and cots that Jayce's family has. It was pretty fun. I woke up a few times during the night, but it was still a good sleep.
Saturday I went to ballet in the morning, came home and played Settlers of Catan, and then we all headed over to our neighbors house to have fun in their archery/shooting range in their basement. Just for kicks and giggles you know. It really had nothing to do with the HG movie, Jayce has been wanting to go shooting with the fam for a while and it finally worked out.
Jayce and his family all looked like naturals. They had pretty good aim as well.

And then there was me...awkward and completely incompetint. Help please!
Lucky for me I redeemed myself in archery! I made it to the inner yellow circle of the target and it was pretty stinking fun. I always knew there was a portion of Katniss in me. ;-)

I also learned that Jayce has really great aim.

Thank you Brother Burton!

  1. You're the child of an ex-Army Ranger and covert operative. The Terrys expect you to school these "civilians" when it comes to handling weaponry!
