Liking Colorado

CO has been good to us. We really love our area, our quirky Russian neighbors, the new friends that we have made in our ward and through med school orientation week, our little apartment, etc. Cameron especially loves roaming around and it's easier to let him do his thing because I don't have to worry about stairs. He was so cute the first week or so, going in and out of all the rooms. His room is so big too! It looks funny with just his crib and dresser in there.

He has also developed an attachment to this wooden duck toy that my mom gave him:
What happened to the stage of fluffy, comfy, snuggly toy attachments? Haha. It's pretty cute thought and my mom loves it of course. :-)

He does have to get used to not having Jayce around as much though, and he's such a Daddy's boy. When Jayce left for orientation he did this a couple of times during the day:
Poor little boy!! But it made Jayce feel pretty good. :-)

We have also had some Sunday dinners up at Lindsey and Josh's place. Thanks!! It's been really nice to have some family here. It made it feel more homey right from the start. Plus, it's really funny to watch Cameron play with Porter. They beat each other up, take each other's toys, grunt like real men... :-) And sometimes they get the biggest kicks out of each other. I hadn't heard Cameron laugh so loud in a while, he was just squealing with delight!

Love that little man.

We had really good luck with a bedroom furniture too. We had set money aside to use for furniture and have done really well with it!! Thank you Craig's List. We love the bedroom set now, but it was a pain to clean it up. The previous owner was a cat person and although I wiped it off before we brought it in, Jayce started having an allergic reaction pretty quickly after we got it all in the house. I spent a long time vacuuming out every door, wiping every little part of each piece of furniture, and finally....no more allergies!! Success! We also just barely bought new couches, and I've started adding little decorations here and there. It's been a fun first couple of weeks.

After those last days of trying my hardest to push away the heightening anticipation of Spencer's arrival, he finally arrived two weeks ago today! Now those days seem so far away. Welcome to the World Aiden Titus

Something big arrived in the Porter Family early in the morning on September 29! He's big, he's blonde, and he has kisses all over his chunky cheeks...welcome to the world Aiden Titus Porter!  He was my second largest baby weighing in at 8 lb 10 oz, his abundance of blonde hair is reminiscent of Cameron, he's the 17th grandchild on the Porter side and the 14th on the Terry side and he came into the world fast and furious like his next-older brother, Spencer. He also completes the Porter basketball team. Summer Olympics 2032, here we come! Mom's Gone

My Mom died in the early hours of June 29 of complications from pneumonia. She was one month shy of her 67 th birthday. I’ll be processing everything from the morning of her death to the day she was buried for a long time. I’m so grateful that I was able to talk to my mom just two days before she passed. I had sat down at my computer after rocking Spencer to sleep and it was quiet time in the Porter house. My mind went blank as soon as I sat down and I relaxed, which is abnormal because I usually feel torn between doing ten things at once when I sit down to “get stuff done” during quiet time. So I thought, “Well, what should I do? It’s been a while since I talked to Mom...” When I asked her how she was she answered, “Well, actually not so good,” and she explained that she had just come home from the doctor’s office where she found out that she had pneumonia.   She filled me in on some details from her appointment and how she had been feeling recently.
