Spring Break

Sooo, we had a fantastic spring break last week. We had debated traveling somewhere, but in the end we decided to stay put and add a little extra money to our "fun" budget for the month. We loaded up the week with local family fun activities and it was sooo nice. Even the weather cooperated, giving us a couple of absolutely beautiful days! Man, what a good week.

On Monday we slept in a little and ate waffles when we all woke up. Ahhh... :-) Jayce went out to get some car stuff taken care of in the afternoon and while he was gone I set up our 2-man tent in the living room. When Jayce got home we spent the evening in the tent reading to Cameron and watching "Once Upon a Time". We were hoping Cam would fall asleep in there so that we could snuggle with him while we watched, but alas there was just too much fun to be had. After playing a bit more we put him down in his room and then came back out to enjoy some s'mores. Cruel, right? Jayce and I didn't sleep in there either though. At the end of the day no matter how many blankets you lay down, the floor is still the floor and the bed was beckoning to McPreggers over here!

Tuesday Cam and I went to story time at the library while Jayce and a couple of buddies went to the Air Force base to do some shopping for COT (the officer training he'll go to in July). Now he's got all the goods he's supposed to bring-the shoes, the camo outfit, his blues, all the badges/bars are sewed on, work out clothes and more. Let's just say it's not your average Scout Camp cost...! At least he looks pretty dang cute in it though!
Tuesday night our friends watched Cameron while we went on a date to the temple and dinner. We had some money left over on a gift card to Outback and we happened to get a coupon for buy 1, get one free dinner entree so we were feeling like we scored pretty big on that date haha. It was so nice though! I love getting one on one date time with Jayce.

Wednesday we cut CamBajamba's hair. At first we thought it turned out amazing considering how random the cuts were because he was upset and wouldn't sit still, but we've realized more and more over the last week that it really did come out butchered haha. It was our first time doing scissors on top instead of a guard all around...maybe he's just not ready for the scissors step!

Thursday was the next big event day. We went to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs with our friends, the Mulliners. It is a beautiful zoo because it's built on a mountain. I think Denver Zoo is still best overall, but there were a couple of things at Cheyenne Mountain that I LOVED and made it so worth it to go. #1, the giraffe feeding when you first walk in. LOVED that. #2, the ape house was pretty awesome because they have more apes in there than the Denver Zoo. There was also a baby gorilla and a baby orangoutang which probably inflated it another 50 points for me. It was awesome. However, didn't love the smell in most of the houses though, mannnn it was a pretty smelly zoo.

Here's Cam feeding the giraffes:

Also on Thursday, after the zoo we all drove to The Garden of the Gods to eat lunch. I had never been there before and it was so beautiful! We took a short walk, but Halle and Cam were reaching the end of their ropes so we kept it short and sweet. We'll have to go explore some more in the future. It was such a good day though!

Friday we had a relaxing morning and then got some yummy Sonic cream slushes and headed to O'Brien Park to eat lunch and play. We were joined by the Nardone's and stayed there for probably a good 2 hours. Cameron kept trying to keep up with Porter at the beginning but I think kind of gave up half way through once he realized that he's just not up to Porter's speed yet haha. He'd see Porter going up the stairs and say, "Por-er!" and scamper over and start to slowly climb up to the top where all the slides are only to realize Porter had already gone down a couple of slides and was pretty much half way to China by then. Hahaha, it was pretty funny to watch. After the park we swung by the library and picked up 5 movies. So, we had good movie nights Friday and Saturday too.

Saturday we celebrated Brooklynn's 1 year birthday at Lollipop Park. Lindsey had an extra free ticket for Cam and thank goodness because we all realized once we were in there that it's normally $15 for admission! Thanks for the smokin' deal Linds. :-)

We tested the waters with the train ride first...bad idea bahaha! He's never been on a ride by himself before and obviously he wasn't quite ready for it yet! He screamed the ENTIRE time.

Somewhere in there Jayce was working with Cameron on how to close his eyes during prayers. He folds his arms and says "amen" at the end of prayers and bows his head most of the time too, but he's never really gotten the whole closing your eyes thing. Sooo...Jayce "showed him how to do it" but squintily peeked at Cam to see if it was working or not while Cam was watching him. Now this is what Cameron thinks closing his eyes is:
