Road Trip!

Image
Last weekend we went to go visit Daddy in Las Vegas! It was a whirlwind trip, but definitely worth it. Jayce had to work the 2pm-12am shift Friday night so there really wasn't much point in getting to Vegas until Saturday morning but I didn't want to drive the whole five hours on Saturday so we split up the drive and went to St. George on Friday. My friend's parents graciously took us in for the night and it worked out wonderfully. At the advice of a friend I got cookie sheets and those big horse shoe magnets from the Dollar Store so that they could be entertained on the way down. The had other magnetic things to play with and on the whole they really enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend this to anyone else looking for ways to entertain their kids in the car. Jack probably enjoyed it the most over the course of the trip.  On the way down we stopped at my Grandmother's grave in New Harmony. The boys left her a pin wheel and I had hoped for a reall...

More on Soccer

The team. What Ben thought of waiting around for pictures.  How into the game Cameron is when he's not on the field.

This boy scored THREE goals at his soccer game last week. When he tasted success after that first goal he was just on fire. I've never seen him move his cute legs down that soccer field so fast! It was hilarious watching him. Each time he looked back at me with a huge smile and he hasn't stopped talking about the three goals he scored at his soccer game. We were with some of our friends in the canyon and I overheard Cameron telling his little friend Halle, "And guess what I did at my soccer game? I scored THREE goals." So fun.  This has happened several times in the last couple of weeks. I leave with the boys in their own beds and come in to check on them before going to bed myself and find this: I melt.

Some other pictures from Aunt Tee's trip. We did the park, she took them on a walk while I ran an errand, and on the last day we went to lunch at a small family restaurant on Mainstreet. It had family pictures all over the walls, great scones, and it's supposedly haunted to boot! We really enjoyed it.

26. Right?

So, about a week and a half before my birthday a neighborhood girl asked how old I was going to be and I told her 27. Then I thought, "Wow, 27 here we go!" I stumped myself though because I could remember things from my 25th birthday, but not my 26th. My memories from turning 25 seemed so distant though that I thought surely there was another birthday in there. Finally, I got out a calculator. 26! I was turning 26. This embarrassingly dimwitted moment actually made my birthday a little more fun though because I seriously felt like I had gained a year of my life back. If anybody out there is having a hard time aging, try being pathetically dimwitted for a moment. Worked for me! I did have a great 26th birthday though, I won't forget turning 26 this time. ;-) Jayce had to be out of town for his first audition rotation and he was missed, but thanks to the love of other relatives and friends it was still a special day. Aunt Tee happened to be coming to town a couple o...

Jayce and I have talked about doing a Harry Potter party for a while and at the beginning of the summer we decided this would be the year! By Harry Potter party, I mean we actually had a birthday party for Harry on his actual birthday. (!) Can I just say we had a blast with it?! Jayce and I planned it together, we watched the movies in the nights leading up to it together, and we had fun making the decorations together, especially the wands! We felt like putting in the time for the decorations since this will hopefully become an annual event in the Porter household. The invitations were the first thing we did and they got us pretty excited. The other decorations came together in the week and a half leading up to the party. There are pictures of those things below. We made some "exploding bonbons" (bonbons with pop rocks) and some pumpkin pasties as well. Our guests also brought yummy Harry Potter treats to share too.  I made the treats the day of and I felt...
