Porter Boy Updates

CAMERON

Cameron very excitedly asked if he could push Spencer in the cart when we went to Home Depot a couple of weeks ago. He felt very adult-like walking into the store.

Cameron had a vision for his gingerbread house at his class party, and he went at it when that frosting got passed out. Note the chimney smoke, the candy cane forest and the (attempted) snowman. He also discovered that he does not like red hots (like mother, like son!) but proudly told the girls at his table that he ate one.

Cameron's class did a Gingerbread Man skit.

On another occasion when I went to his class for a parent's breakfast, the adults were getting ready to leave and we noticed that the kids had gathered to take turns reading to each other. I wanted to take a picture because it was sweet but when Cameron noticed me he started running over to give me another hug.

Cameron also finished up his Karate classes. I loved watching him in Karate and he did well in that environment. Next up is basketball and we'll see how it measures up for him.

We have a two toys to bed maximum...

...but I think Cameron found a way around it.

BENSON

He's pretty proud of his winking:

He is our lightest sleeper and he has started getting into bed with us whenever he wakes up in the night. I think it has been happening so often because he wakes up cold. He avoids sleeping under his blanket because he doesn't want to have to make his bed in the morning. Lol. It was happening enough that I had to give him the boot and tell him to get back into his own bed, but there have been a couple of times when he's done it without my waking up.

A while back Ben was getting a cup and slipped on his dismount from the counter so a friend came over while I took him in to get glued up. Now most of the cups, plates and bowls are in a lower cabinet.

I actually really enjoyed taking him on our last minute date though and we even got the cutest doctor in the ER. Ben was loving it as you can see in the picture, that's a favorite. AND I finally got to see Jayce in his element, what could be better?

JACKSON

A month or so after Ben's head trauma, Jack followed suit, but his was deeper and longer so Dad went for staples (collective "eek!"). Cameron didn't realize where Jack was in a pile of cushions and blankets on the couch and tossed a tool into the mix and there ya go. Lessons learned. Cameron felt instantly empathetic and Jack was really brave for the staples. Thank goodness Jayce was at home for this one!

Jackson thoroughly enjoyed the leaf piles this season. Having their help with raking and bagging and watching their joy jumping into the biggest piles made raking the leaves enjoyable this year. I love being outside with them, I need to carve out more time for that.

I absolutely LOVE the things the boys create when they play. I just get such a kick out of it, I'm sure most moms do. I snapped these pictures of Jack's play area after quiet time one day.

SPENCER

Eat your hearts out ladies.
I just started mixing 3T clothes into his wardrobe. What can I say? He's just always been a big boy!

Although I will say that he definitely gets more cookies than his brothers when cookies are available. When I'm in the kitchen, he's in the kitchen and sometimes I just need to hand him some convenient nearby morsel so I can actually advance the dinner plan. I think he knows his silence is in his favor here, because if he sounded the alarm and his brothers all came in demanding a cookie the game would be up. He's got a strategy my friends!

The next thing I knew he was here:
Pontificating with the soap.

One of my quick meals is the Red Pepper and Tomato Soup from Costco with garlic bread. I got all the stuff out for the bread and then started heating the soup while the oven warmed. When I came back to focus on the bread Spencer had gotten four pieces out of the bag and started buttering! I was dying, this kid cracks me up in the kitchen. When I stand in the kitchen for more than a minute he magically appears, it's like a 6th sense for nearby food preparation. He's been known to go into the cupboard, get a mixing bowl out, lug it up to the counter and then just stare at me like, "What're we bakin' Mom?!"

Benson got in on the garlic bread preparation.

Spencer and his grumpy side. I just love it.

That's all folks!
