Overheard at the Porter's Lately...

Recorded these during the summer and never posted them.

Cameron was "having a hard time falling asleep" and came out to lay down next to me on the floor in the hallway. I was reading the Ensign out there in an effort to help the boys stay calm and fall asleep. I read him a story from the Ensign that compared the Tuskegee airmen to the Holy Ghost in the way that they helped a particular squadron on a mission in Europe. Then he ran into his room to get his new Articles of Faith printout that he was given in Primary so that he could read them next to me and start memorizing (he's pretty excited about the prospect of a piece of candy from the Primary Presidency every time he passes off an Article of Faith). We talked about the first one and then the conversation turned into discussing the resurrection. At one point he said, "Maybe then I can see Jesus! Because I've always wanted to see him in real life, not just like in pictures like this one (pointing to the picture on his A of F card) or movies."

Referring to his Articles of Faith card again he said, "Maybe I can sneak this into my grave so that I can give it to Moroni."

Earlier in the week we were on our way to basketball practice and Cameron asked if I could turn a kid's learning program on in the car as we were buckling up. Jayce was staying home with the other boys this particular night, so I wanted to take advantage of the one-on-one time.

Me: "How about you watch it either on the way there or the way home and we talk one way?"
Cameron: "Okay, let's talk on the way there."
Me: Score.
He told me about the inventors he was learning about at school and we talked about things he would like to invent, such as a robot that can make any kind of tool you could possibly think of for you. We talked the whole way there and as we were parking Cameron said, "Mom, lets talk the whole way home too!" <3 p="">

In the car, I was telling the boys that we were going to get a house with our Porter cousins for vacation next year.
Ben: "Like the house when we went to the beach with Grammy."
Jack: "Yeah, I liked going there with Grammy Terry. Grammy Terry was very nice and sometimes I miss her."
