The Latest and Greatest

Cameron is officially a little over 1 month old! Quite the achievement for such a little guy and with us as parents to boot. ;-) Here is an update on what's been happening in the Porter apartment:

Cameron continues to light up our world. Parenting is an adjustment, a hard adjustment, but also an amazing one. We are full of love for Cameron and I'm already getting excited to meet my other children. I've heard many women say that part of the miracle of motherhood is forgetting how hard labor was so quickly and I totally get it now. Only a few hours after the delivery I felt like it had just been a bad dream. So there ya go, the answer to "why do women who go through that decide to go through it again?"--because God conveniently helps us forget how miserable it was once we have such a joyful bundle in our arms! Haha. Don't worry though, it will be a while before we work on the next one.
When Cameron is eating or stressed out he puts his little fists up to his face like this and I love it! It's just so gosh darn cute! He does it in the car too. When we go over a bump his hands burst out of their fists and his little fingers grab his face in terror and he gets a really concerned look on his face.

Speaking of Cameron's concerned face, here it is (with emphasis added):

Cameron does this a lot with his head when he's sleeping too. He slumps it really hard to one side and even when we readjust it he goes right back to it. It looks so uncomfortable, but I guess whatever floats a baby's boat, right?

We took Cameron to his first play ever and I just know he'll remember it forever. So young and so cultured! Haha, but really we went to go see my friend, Ashley, in "Singing in the Rain" at the Scera outdoor theatre with our neighbors and it was super fun. He did so great, he was nearly asleep the whole time and super cuddly--my favorite.
With Cameron loving to keep his hands by his face he tends to scratch himself sometimes, so we try to stay as on top of his nails as possible. Jayce is quite the nail filer.
On a different note because our lives still continue although we have a baby, my friend Lydia just got back from her mission in Germany!! We met up with her to celebrate my friend Cami's wedding this weekend. A wedding and a long lost friend all in one! It was a fun couple of days.

Oh how I love weddings.

Annnnnndd Jayce and I are excitedly awaiting the return of his parents and younger brother from Auckland, New Zealand where they have been serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We've been getting their new house in order for them so that it will be nice and ready to go when they get here. Here's a sneak peak at their new view:

Welcome to the World Aiden Titus

Something big arrived in the Porter Family early in the morning on September 29! He's big, he's blonde, and he has kisses all over his chunky cheeks...welcome to the world Aiden Titus Porter!  He was my second largest baby weighing in at 8 lb 10 oz, his abundance of blonde hair is reminiscent of Cameron, he's the 17th grandchild on the Porter side and the 14th on the Terry side and he came into the world fast and furious like his next-older brother, Spencer. He also completes the Porter basketball team. Summer Olympics 2032, here we come! Mom's Gone

My Mom died in the early hours of June 29 of complications from pneumonia. She was one month shy of her 67 th birthday. I’ll be processing everything from the morning of her death to the day she was buried for a long time. I’m so grateful that I was able to talk to my mom just two days before she passed. I had sat down at my computer after rocking Spencer to sleep and it was quiet time in the Porter house. My mind went blank as soon as I sat down and I relaxed, which is abnormal because I usually feel torn between doing ten things at once when I sit down to “get stuff done” during quiet time. So I thought, “Well, what should I do? It’s been a while since I talked to Mom...” When I asked her how she was she answered, “Well, actually not so good,” and she explained that she had just come home from the doctor’s office where she found out that she had pneumonia.   She filled me in on some details from her appointment and how she had been feeling recently.
