Halloween Festivities

Oh my goodness Halloween was a great day! We had picked Jayce up from the air port the night before, so it was our first full day with Dad. We just had a great, leisurely day. You know how you have those warm happy memories that seem to crystalize? The whole day seemed to be like that.

Jayce gave the boys presents from his travels. A kid world Atlas for Jack and a book about the body for Ben. Cameron got a pirate sticker book that he was really excited about. They went through their books for a while and all three enjoyed working on the sticker book with Jayce.

A fun side note was realizing that one of the pirates talked about in our book is a distant ancestor, John Hawkins. We enjoy joking about having a pirate in our ancestry, and he was a legal pirate for the queen, but apparently he's also known for having a pretty big hand in starting up the slave trade. Yikes. Maybe he'll explain that to me one day.

We saved the carving of our pumpkin for Jayce. It was worth the wait.

We started to watch Hocus Pocus and switched to a Winnie the Pooh Halloween movie after realizing that Hocus Pocus should probably wait a few more years. :-) Witches sucking the life out of little children just didn't seem up their alley.

Have I mentioned lately how much I'll miss this neighborhood? Friday afternoon we went to the elementary school to watch our neighborhood friends parade around in their costumes, then we went to go say hi to Sophia afterwards. She was a rainbow.
