Cam Bam Gets the Flu

Cameron got his first real illness in mid November. It started off with him having a totally normal morning, but after a while he got really sassy and started throwing fits. He had one of his screaming fits, which he normally does when he isn't feeling well. So, I borrowed my friend's thermometer and sure enough he had a slight fever. Nothing too big though. I put him down for his nap thinking he'd probably be fine after he slept. He was restless in his sleep so I went in a couple of times to check his temperature and it was only rising. :-( So, I started getting a little nervous and was texting Jayce about what I should do. We go back and forth about what medicines to give and when it's really necessary to give them. After he woke up his temp was creeping to 101 and he wouldn't eat, so I gave him some tylenol. Normally when he has a fever tylenol gets him right out of it and he starts acting normal again, but it wouldn't drop below 99.5. More worrying. I laid down on the couch with him thinking I'd read to him and let him play with my kid apps on my phone, but he fell right asleep again. I'm not going to lie, the one thing I like about Cameron being sick is that he gives lots of snuggles. :-)

My friend was going to watch Cameron while I went to my 12 week check-up for the twins, but I didn't want her to get sick so Jayce ended up coming home to stay with Cam while I went. Cameron pretty much went in and out of sleep on the couch the rest of the night while we played him some movies. He slept really well that night and in the morning things were looking pretty good. His temp was 98 and he was acting pretty normal and eating well again.

Of all the days, that day was the day that we had to be out of the apartment for 6 hours while it got sprayed for bugs. So, I packed up our stuff and we went to my friend Megan's apartment for the day and I was just set on keeping Cam from interacting too much with Evie just in case he was still carrying the bug. He took a nap and even ate a little bit of lunch, but his temp started climbing again and he progressively got worse. I tried to give him a bath to sooth him, but he wasn't having it. By the time we left Meg's his temp was 100 again and he was just having a repeat of the day before. I was worried since this was the second day and his fever was getting so bad again. New mom here people! I kept texting Jayce updates and called the pediatrician, but they said that it was probably fine and to call again on Monday (it was Friday) if it lasted over the whole weekend. Finally Jayce came home early and listened to his heart beat and things to set me at ease. Cam pretty much became confined to the couch again, going in and out of sleep. I put a cool paper towel on his forehead to help the fever and turned on some movies. I had never seen Cam so sick! I felt so bad for him. It was a little bit of a bummer as to what day it fell on too, because we were supposed to go visit some of Jayce's cousins that night. We'll have to catch them next time I guess!

The next day all was well and the fever had burned off. Yay!
