You'll Be With Me, Like a Handprint On My Heart

I've been reminded over and over again this week how lucky I have been in so many of my friendships. Last Sunday we had a lesson on friendship in which I was reminded how I can be a better friend and it made me admire so many qualities I see in my friends. In each phase of my life I've relied a lot on the amazing women around me and they have helped shape who I am. I love the sisterhood I am surrounded by. Heavenly Father certainly knows what people I've needed around me and when. In an LDS General Conference , Elder Marlin K. Jensen  said, "I pray that we will now be to others what He is to us: a true friend. At no time will we be more Christlike than when we are a friend." Thanks to so many of you who have lived up to that. I'm flooded with memories of friends lifting me up when I needed it, making me laugh, and just listening to me babble. On my way  home from my old roommate's wedding this week, the kids were passed out in the car and I just lis...

A Quarter of a Century

I had a great 25th birthday. Quality family time, expressions of love from family and friends, new things, and the great outdoors. It couldn't have been better. This little guy snuggled and munched on my toast with me for breakfast in bed. My sister-in-law came down at 6:00 a.m. to decorate my car! Made my day! Glenna and Blair played with Cameron during J & B's naps so that Jayce and I could go on a run together and explore some of the trails behind our house. We all got to go to a fun park in our neighborhood. It's pretty rare that Jayce gets to do parks with us, so I like to soak it up.  Then we headed to The Red Barn for ice cream and my new favorite, a Root Beer freeze. SO GOOD!! My awesome in-laws came down in the evening to watch the boys while Jayce and I went on a date. I wanted to try something in the area so that we could fully enjoy the small town life so we ended up at a place in Payson called Bourdeax's Bis...

Utah Vacation

After Jayce's last board exam we took a road trip to Utah for the 4th. It was a great, easy-going, fun trip. The 4th of July is probably my second favorite holiday. I love it and I wanted to spend it in Utah because I just feel like nobody does the 4th like Provo. This spot is a little gem that Lindsey found on our last trip to Utah for Scott's wedding. It's this hidden parking area behind one of the gas stations. It's big and cars don't really go back there, so we can eat and let the kids run around for a little bit. The Fourth. Can I just put in a big "if you're ever in Utah for July 4th, do the Freedom Run" plug? An awesome 5k. Swag wise we got nice shirts, fun patriotic socks, and medals (who gives medals for 5k's?!). The best part is that the race route is the parade route. For those of you who have never experienced Provo on the 4th of July, at 9:00 a.m. there is a big parade. The night before the parade people go down to the parade...

Porter Boy Highlights

Someone got their first bad cold. Can you guess who it was?! Hahaha! I mean...poor Jacky Boy. Jackson has become quite the climber extraordinaire which means that he has also collected his fair share of bruises and swollen lips. He busted his lip twice within a week's time and now it's black and blue with three little scabs. He climbs into/onto anything at a good height. He is also really into toilets. Yesssss. He also is in love with the pizza cutter. If you want to know what to get him for his bday, it could be a pizza cutter sharpening kit. When the dishwasher is locked he turns it on, when the dishwasher is unlocked he can open it up, so we just try to keep him out of the kitchen in general. There was one day that he took every possible chance that he could though and I was about to pull my hair out if I saw him holding the pizza cutter one more time. In hindsight, I should have just hand washed it--I'll blame that on mom brain too! ...
