Park

Image
Jayce has had an amazing schedule with the doctor he has rotated with this month. Beyond amazing. He has been home by noon almost every single day, which means that he has had a lot more study time to prepare for his upcoming shelf exam AND we have gotten more quality Daddy time. This lunch at the park was one of my favorites this month. The boys all got sunglasses in their Easter baskets (!)

Jackson the Hands-On Helper

Image
One thing about Jack that has become more and more apparent with time is that he loves being hands-on. He also really loves the independence of doing something himself. Now when I'm cleaning he wants to be in on the action and I let him have at it with me.  (These are not staged by the way, this is all him.) He loves pushing his brothers around on this bike. The other day Benson was riding the bike and Jack was pushing him while Cameron helped steer from the front. It was a really sweet moment. Jayce was gathering tumbleweeds that blew in during some of the crazy wind storms we had a week or so ago and Jack just jumped right in. He went to the far corner of the yard, grabbed a big tumbleweed and just started dragging it across the lawn to the pile Jayce had started. He's a determined little guy. Yesterday Cameron fell asleep in the later afternoon. I needed to get to the grocery store and I was going to take the twins, but instead we decided to split th...

One Saturday morning I came out of the shower and found this cute scene: This happened:  It was short lived. We had the realization that when Cameron was Jack and Ben's age he had been sleeping in a toddler bed for a few months already. We let the idea sink in for a while and then we decided to be bold and try taking the front of their cribs off. After two nights of them laughing, climbing in and out of each other's beds, and fighting over the night light until they passed out around 10:00, we decided to put the crib fronts back on. We tried to make it a teaching opportunity and had them watch us do it while explaining that it was the consequence of not staying in bed, hoping that the next time we took the fronts off they would stay in bed. Didn't work! We tried the next night and then went through the same process. So, now the cribs are back together until they're 18 and leaving for college. I was looking for Benson upstairs and couldn...

Waldner's Visit

Image
The Waldner's came into town for a flash visit while their house got treated for termites.  One thing I love about Cameron's age is that any friend becomes his "best friend." Jayden is about 6 months or so older than Cameron, so he's got a similar attitude and they were best friends for the several hours we spent with them. :-)

Easter

Image
We spent Easter weekend up at Grammy and Grampy's! Since I was at the BYU ballet reunion, Jayce was the one to get the boys ready and the car packed and I have to say he did a nice job... The weekend consisted of General Conference , dying eggs, a delicious and healthy Easter dinner, seeing Cinderella, an egg/basket hunt, and thinking about the Savior. (And having fevers, because like I've said before, no week in the Porter family is complete without illness I guess.) Really though, festivities aside, it was a great Easter season because in the last couple of months I've been coming closer to my Savior and developing a deeper appreciation for the breadth of the Atonement. Change is possible because of the Savior. He can heal our hearts, he can make us strong enough to carry our burdens, and he can turn weak and simple things into strengths. I know that this is true, you just need to come unto him and allow him to help you.

Backyard Egg Hunt

Image
We were looking forward to the Easter Egg hunt Santaquin City normally puts on, but they canceled it this year to reserve the funding for other things. So, we had a little egg hunt in our backyard with Cameron's pre-school group, their siblings, and a few other neighborhood kids.  As always, getting this many parents and kids to take a picture is quite humurous.  To make it fair, we decided to do it in three waves with the kids under 2 being the first wave. I thought they would need a couple of minutes to really get into it, but they bolted for the eggs and started picking them up fast! Then we sent off the 3/4 year olds and finally the older kids to clean up shop in some of the trickier hiding spots. My friend got this great action shot of Cameron (over on the left) flying through the air after the eggs. Here he comes in his Spiderman boots of glory.  So for my family--here's Annie Clark! My parent's have been really good friend...
