Cameron Eats

Image
I realize most people probably think more videos of Cameron are getting rather old and boring, but I'm a mom...I just can't help it. Plus, this is for the interested relatives that aren't here to experience it! At Cameron's 6 month check up the doctor said that we should start beefing him up a bit more because he's dropped a little on his curve upward in weight and height. My milk supply has been dwindling for a while and so we're facing the music and supplementing with formula as well. It's actually been working out really well and takes the stress off of me because now I know that he is eating enough. We've also started to work in some real food because his tummy is now ready to go! His taste buds are another story. We decided to start with vegetables because I read in one book that it gives them a better chance of liking vegetables, whereas if you start with fruit it might make it harder for them to get into vegetables. However, I just...

Touro Interview

Image
On Monday Jayce interviewed at a medical school in Henderson, Nevada called Touro. We decided to make a quick family trip out of it since it's cheaper to drive, we have friends there, and I had never seen Vegas and thought it would be fun to drive through. We stayed with these lovelies: Thank you Justin and Lindsey Taylor!! Their place was adorable and it was fun to see them. Lindsey is one of my old roommates from college. During Jayce's interview Lindsey and I vegged and watched Once Upon A Time, then went and walked around the Belagio and ate lunch at Panera. Those Vegas hotels are NUTS. They've got really cool and beautiful things there, but it's just unfathomable to me how much money flows in and out of there. It made me feel weird. Not to mention all the nudey advertisements and casinos everywhere, not really my cup of tea! I'm glad I got to see the strip though. Jayce and I drove through it Sunday night as we arrived to see it all lit up. If I coul...

Lately

Image
We bought Cameron a bumbo: As you can tell we are all loving it. :-) Not to mention we got it for half the price. Man I love a good deal. We went to one of Scott's flag football games the other day too. Of course they won, woot woot! They are #18 out of 200 something...or something like that. Basically they are smoking good. Thanks for the new hat Mommers!

A Quarter Century!

Jayce had been complaining about Cameron's hair because it was starting to look kind of gross with how long it was getting. I just couldn't bring myself to cut it! So, I finally cut it while Jayce was at work as one of his birthday presents. Here's my precious babe: Still long, but I couldn't help but feel a little sad cutting his hair for the first time. I mean, he had that hair in the womb!! I'm glad I did though, he looks much better groomed. Bytheway: The bandage on his little hand is from me accidentally burning him. :-( I was carrying him in our baby carrier and wasn't paying attention to what he was getting his hands into while I was straightening up the kitchen and he brushed his little hand up against something hot. Poor wee one! At the time I didn't even realize what had happened because he kind of squealed and cried for not even a minute and then was fine. So, I just thought, "Well that was weird." I felt so awful later when I saw the bi...

Halloween Weekend

Image
The kick-off to Halloween started with the 2nd annual murder mystery dinner up in Park City with The Rege. Although I was not the killer this year, I enjoyed playing the part of "Bella"--a dancer (ballet was definitely not in her description though...), mother to an aspiring baseball player and the secret mother of the murdered girl, and the secret lover of the Padre (Jayce Face). Setting up: The Boys: The Girls: Oh, Manny And then there was Ashley. ;-) The Murderer! Halloween with the Porter's! At first I wanted to make Cameron into a troll for Halloween (you know, the ones with jewels in their bellies and hair sticking straight up?) It would have been fitting, however I decided I preferred keeping the little tater tot warm. So, thank you Kid to Kid for the pumpkin outfit! He was the first of many Porter Pumpkins. Hahahahha, I love this. Here's a reminder that every kid asks for a trick OR a treat. Trick is totally an option people. After watching the Sing-Off we st...

Med School Update

Just wanted to pop in really fast and say that in the last week Jayce has found out that he has been accepted to both A.T. Still in Arizona and Rocky Vista in Colorado! Yayyyyy for getting into medical school!! Between the two we would choose Rocky Vista, but we are still waiting to hear from the University of Utah and deciding whether or not he'll accept his interview down at Midwestern in Arizona which is scheduled for December. I'm so proud of Jayce for getting into two schools so far. He has worked so hard for this and it means so much to me to see him be successful. I love this boy.

My Morning Walk

Image
In an effort to stay in shape I've have taken up walking in the mornings. I just can't bring myself to run yet...maybe in the spring. ;-) Today I set out and upon walking out the garage I immediately turned around because I decided that it was a must that I bring the camera today. There were big ominous grey clouds coming in and the air just smelled fresh and fierce at the same time. That sounds weird, but I can't describe it much better than that. It pumped me up for my walk. Here's my mighty man that I take along to scare away strangers: Arrrgh!! Here is the initial view upon walking out the front door: Here is a look out point once you get to the end of our street where you can look out and see the Utah County side of the mountain. The rainclouds had blown in from the Provo area, which you can tell is starting to get blue skies. Notice the trees on the mountain too. I love fall! Standing around the same spot where I took the previous two photos, I...
