Hands

I've heard this song a few times on the radio in the last month and I'm glad that it's making a come back because I forgot how good it is. It reminds me of an assembly we had in high school where the brother of one of the victims of the Columbine shooting came to talk to us about the event. Anybody else from Stone Bridge remember that? It was the best assembly I ever went to in my grades school years. It changed the whole atmosphere of our school for a while. Here are the lyrics: If I could tell the world just one thing It would be that we're all OK And not to worry 'cause worry is wasteful And useless in times like these I won't be made useless I won't be idle with despair I will gather myself around my faith For light does the darkness most fear My hands are small, I know But they're not yours, they are my own But they're not yours, they are my own And I am never broken Poverty stole your golden shoes It didn't steal your laughter And heartache...

The Air Up There

Sometimes I look out the window and see this: Fog. Here it's not quite so thick, but you still can't see the valley below: I love days like these because it makes me feel like curling up by the fire and reading. It does have it's eerie qualities though. Have you ever seen the movie The Others? You know the part when Nicole Kidman goes to find a doctor in the village and gets lost in all of the fog? Yeah, it's like that. It creeps up on you as you get higher up on the mountain and by the time you're driving around the neighborhoods up here you're going about 10 miles an hour because you can't see 5 feet in front of you. It's fun though, don't get me wrong. However, sometimes the roles are reversed and the fog is only down in the valley and everything up here is bright and sunny. This is more rare, but I love it! The valley is literally just a blanket of clouds and you can't tell where the sky starts and the fog ends on the horizon. ...

Valentine's Day

Image
This was probably my favorite Valentine's Day, despite the fact that I was sick with a cold. Jayce let me sleep in a little since I was sick and took care of Cameron for me in the morning (even though he was up until 2:00 a.m. the night before working on my Valentine's gift...although I only learned that later). We got to spend some time together in the morning before he left for work. He left me at the computer watching a Red Box movie and when I got up to get Cameron some tissues (he has a cold too) from the bathroom, I found this: Jayce had gone through the bathroom and the rest of the downstairs on his way out the door and taped all these cards all over with reasons 1-52 of why he loves me. :-) Of course then I madly ran around the downstairs with Cameron in tote reading them and seeing where he had left them for me, smiling all the while. I know that he won't always have the time or energy to do things like this, so that makes me appreciate it all the more now. We have...

The Collective Dance Project

Image
So, I thought I would explain more about this thing I'm doing called The Collective Dance Projec t. Here's a link to their Facebook page too: http://www.facebook.com/collectivedanceproject The Collective was started by Michelle Lapioli just recently in the fall. Basically it's the stay-at-home mom/love to dance for fun dream. We rotate giving each other classes, so there is no teacher cost, and then we all chip in a few bucks here and there to cover studio rental fees. Right now there is just one ballet class offered, but Michelle hopes to broaden the class spectrum when there is enough demand. That's the beauty of it, if you want a jazz class you can do a jazz class, if you want to just stick to ballet go for it. It can be whatever you want! I went to the first class just to check it out after Michelle told me about what she was starting, but once I came out of the class I was all jazzed about looking into grants, looking for performance opportunities, being...
