Ode to Theatre Ballet
Well, this is the first year in fifteen years that I will not be performing! I decided to focus more on my classes and on teaching ballet at a studio in Orem than to do BYU's Theatre Ballet. Last night I went to World of Dance, which was one of my favorite things to do when I was on company. I was accompanied by Jayce (such a loving husband to miss the football game to take me to a dance concert :-) ) and four other girls who also aren't doing company this year either. All of the performers did great! World of Dance is always so exciting because it's all of the touring companies doing some of their best pieces. If you have never been, go next year!
The performance brought me flashbacks from the past as I remembered all the good things that dance has brought me over the years, especially seeing such good friends up on the stage. Nothing bonds girls together more than spending 15 1/2 hours a week in the RB rehearsing and taking class. I love them all dearly!
Here are some blasts from my past:
Senior year of high school I was lucky enough to get the chance to dance one of my most favorite parts: Odette in Swan Lake. Our studio's photographer took this in dress rehearsal and went home and did some neat stuff with it on her computer to make it look more like a painting than a picture.

My fellow Theatre Ballet performer, Alex, took this during our Theatre Ballet photo shoot last year. She is so great.
World of Dance 2008. The white patch on my knee is covering a cut I got backstage at our first stage rehearsal. There was one part of the dance when I literally leaped off stage and immediately began running behind the wings to get to the other side, where I immediately went back on stage. If I wasn't fast enough, I didn't make my entrance. The backstage area hadn't been fully cleared before our rehearsal, so as I began running in the pitch black I ran into a big metal object and toppled over a mass of metal stuff, cutting a deep cut in my knee. Now I have a scar to always remind me of the great occasion, haha.
Theatre Ballet tour November 2008! We went to different towns in Colorado for a week, this was the night we got to stay in a hotel.

Seeing you on point really makes me miss ballet, but I just didnt have the feet for it. My ankle got really messed up and I didnt have a choice but to give it up. You look gorgeous as a ballerina!!! :)
