iRead

I was sooo excited to get so many good books this year for Christmas. I thought I would have to wait until a break from school, but I haven't been able to help it. I'm on to my second book even though the semester is under way. I read on the way home from campus, during those extra few minutes before class starts, as a reward for getting all my homework done (...or when I feel like procrastinating on my homework!). I love it!! I haven't been able to read for fun in forever. Plus, I'm trying to branch out more into some "big kid" books. I used to read the Harry Potter series just about every summer as a tradition, but although those books will always hold a dear place in my heart, I've decided to broaden my horizons. :-)

I read The Lost Symbol first-thanks Kimber and Fabs! The only other Dan Brown book that I've read was Angels and Demons, but I got way into it so I put this on my Christmas wish list this year. It's SO GOOD! It gets so intense! One of the most fun things about it is that it takes place in Washington, D.C., which I'm fairly familiar with since I grew up so close to it. Some of the things I studied in classes at college were brought up in the book as well and so I felt like could understand a lot of the concepts/bits of history/artwork/buildings/etc. that they are talking about. PLUS my parents took Jayce and I to the Capitol building and the Library of Congress over Christmas break, which happens to be where a lot of the story takes place. I was able to imagine all of the places they talked about and it made me so excited. Pretty much I felt smart reading it since I could keep up, haha.

Three Cups of Tea, this is what I'm reading now. I'm probably only a quarter of the way through at this point, but WOW. I am loving this book. Greg Mortensen came to BYU last semester and held a forum about his book and the importance of education and humanity. I thought it was inspiring, so I put this down on my Christmas wish list as well. As I read I realize how amazing the things that Greg Mortensen has been able to accomplish really are! So far, it's been nothing but inspiring to read. I would highly recommend it to everyone and anyone.
