General Conference Weekend and Easter

General Conference Weekend was fabulous. I loved how Elder Neil L. Anderson described Conference as being "a spiritual symphony" orchestrated by the Lord. There were so many talks about the family and excellent talks about the Savior. I'm excited for the May Ensign!

Jayce and I watched all four sessions at the church and while he was at Priesthood Session Saturday night, I went out with the ladies. We went to Red Robin, Deseret Book, and Robert's. I almost won a prize at Robert's, but unfortunately I was beat by a little 10-year-old. Next time!

I made Jayce's little egg badge at Robert's during ladies night! I wanted to get a picture of him wearing it before the end of the day. Don't ask why he's laughing.

Our Easter morning breakfast was french toast and our Easter treat was my favorite little Cadbury Eggs that come out every year. Love them! We attended Conference at the church again, visited grandparents, and had fondue with friends and family for dinner. It was a great day, but the best part of all was being able to hear the leaders of the church share so many wonderful insights about the life of the Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. I think that the verses from Luke 24 shared in a couple of the talks sum up one of the most important messages of Easter. Faithful women came to take care of Christ's body when they realized that his body was no longer in the tomb. Two angels appeared to them and asked, "Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen." Jesus Christ lives. He conquered the grave and made the Plan possible. Now that is something truly worth celebrating.

Spencer's Birth Story

After those last days of trying my hardest to push away the heightening anticipation of Spencer's arrival, he finally arrived two weeks ago today! Now those days seem so far away. It's amazing how quickly the tables turn. Your life seems to be building up to one particular moment for so long and then all of a sudden you're on the other side of that moment and it's like life has never been any different. Here is the last "belly picture" I took before his arrival and I only thought about it because my parents had requested one. The difference between the first and the fourth kid I guess. Mom's Gone

My Mom died in the early hours of June 29 of complications from pneumonia. She was one month shy of her 67 th birthday. I’ll be processing everything from the morning of her death to the day she was buried for a long time. I’m so grateful that I was able to talk to my mom just two days before she passed. I had sat down at my computer after rocking Spencer to sleep and it was quiet time in the Porter house. My mind went blank as soon as I sat down and I relaxed, which is abnormal because I usually feel torn between doing ten things at once when I sit down to “get stuff done” during quiet time. So I thought, “Well, what should I do? It’s been a while since I talked to Mom...” When I asked her how she was she answered, “Well, actually not so good,” and she explained that she had just come home from the doctor’s office where she found out that she had pneumonia.   She filled me in on some details from her appointment and how she had been feeling recently.
