Terry's!
We hadn't been in Georgia for a week before we left it to head to VA for a family get-together. I'm really going to enjoy being close our east coast family for the next three years. My Mom just retired from her job as an elementary school teacher after over 20 years of teaching! Her co-workers put together a huge surprise celebration for her and we were lucky we made it to the east coast in time to join the festivities. It made for a good mini family reunion.
There was a surprise assembly for Mom at school. The arranged for her to be outside with another teacher and they had the whole school assemble in the gym and then they paged her to come down. So, first she was hit with a wave of shock that they were having an assembly in honor of her retirement, then they announced that they had some special guests to bring out and my siblings and all of our families came onto the stage.
My mom taught all three kids in this family, so as high schoolers now they came back for the assembly and presented her with a flag that had been flown over the Capitol. Cool, right?!
Mrs. Newel (my elementary school music teacher who I still adore!) had mom's class sing "For Good" from Wicked.
It was a perfect Hillside send-off. We were so touched by everything her co-workers did for it despite how busy they were with their end-of-school work. They really made it a sweet moment for my mom and then there was a party afterwards that a lot of former students came to. As my sister-in-law likes to say, she's been promoted to a full-time Grammy now!
The last time my family went out for the sole purpose of taking family photos that weren't for someone's wedding was when I was in...middle school? 7th grade maybe? So, we felt like we were ready for some upgrades.
Meet the Terry's.
And you already know how my kids are for pictures, so just bare with me!
Credit carding? I'm innocent.
Something tells me kissing photos make dad feel uncomfortable...
I love you Dad!
She got some really sweet candids too.
(!!!!)
A couple of other highlights:
A grandkid walk, Jonny who wanted to be swaddled like Spencer (!)
And like father like son!
