Camping

Image
We went camping mid November. We normally go every summer but I never managed to work up enough steam for it. I'm glad now because the fall weather is so much nicer.  It was a great trip. The kind of trip when boys can be boys. I love watching them get dirty and having the best time with sticks and sand and whatever else is lying around. The company didn't hurt either, we went with two other resident families from church. This was the view from the tent site: Lake front property! I was excited. I snapped this while I was setting up the tent. Jayce wasn't going to be up until after dark so I put on my big girl pants and set up camp. Spencer ate more dirt than I care to admit while watching me from the blanket, but luckily I had some help watching him after the Bell's showed up. Ben enjoyed setting up with me after I got things into the tent. Things that come to mind thinking about Ben in the tent: monkey, kangaroo, destroyer, teddy bear. Cameron a...

Spencer Update

Image
This delicious boy is growing fast. The holidays are going to come and go and he'll soon be diving into his second year of life! I feel like I was just in the delivery room sometimes. He loves food. People have teased me that I wouldn't need to sweep if I had a dog and now I'm like, "Don't need one, I've got a Spencer." He often crawls into the kitchen and I find him under the table searching for scraps. If he sees you eating something from a distance he books it over and starts whining.  He also loves being held. I try not to make eye contact with him when he's playing contentedly on the floor because when I do he almost always gets a big grin, then starts crawling over and whimpering. It's adorable but my back is feeling a little low about it. He seems to be a little more on the snuggly side, at least for one of our babies. Jayce and I both adore his snuggles when they come. There's just something about those cherub cheeks restin...

Halloween Day 2016

Image
Halloween was the day after we got home from Florida. The best part was laying on a blanket outside  and soaking in Fall while Jack and Ben played in the dirt and ran around doing the great things boys should do outside.  We had red pepper soup for dinner because it was orange and out of a carton from Costco, which made it an obvious choice for the evening in my book. We ended up loading the boys in the car to go trick-or-treating in another neighborhood because there wasn't too much happening on our street. The one we went to was pretty fun. A lot of people decked out for Halloween. It was frustrating here and there as most Halloween experiences seem to be for us, but I'm glad that the boys really loved being their Star Wars characters. Jack and Ben were the cutest Storm Troopers around and I get a kick out of watching the boys trick-or-treat each year. Ben doesn't get deterred from the scary decorations. He gave a woman in costume with her face painted like a ...

More From Florida

The rest of our time in Florida was just as great. The day after Universal Studios we said good bye to the Porter's and then headed to the beach with the Nardone's. I love the beach. It soothes my soul. I love watching the kids play at the beach too. They get braver and braver in the water every time we go and they love the sand and shell collecting. It's just a big win for our family. This super woman had house guests as she was dealing with the selling of her house and gearing up for an out-of-state move. And she did it with grace. Sad that we just got out to the east and they've just barely (like this week) moved further west! He was being a sand monster. Man I love seeing these kids play with all of their cousins. After our time at the beach we rushed home to go to Lindsey and Josh's trunk-or-treat (which Lindsey was partly in charge of). It worked out perfectly for us because we were missing our ward's trunk-or-trea...
