Taking Jayce Home :-)

Well, now that we have been married for four months, I finally got to show Jayce my home in Ashburn, Virginia! We were there for a little over a week. Within the first few days we had an open house with friends and family. It was an outdoor bbq and it turned out lovely! My Mom and Dad put a lot of preparation into it, for which we are very grateful. We had a really good turn out too. It was nice to show my hometown that Jayce isn't made up! Haha.

Colorful Terry's (and spouses): Ben and Rebekah Stay with new baby James, Porter's, Mom and Dad Terry, Rachel Terry, Talia and David Terry with darling Kathryn Terry. :-)

Photographers of the night! My sister Rachel and her boyfriend Todd.

This is Mrs. Startsman, one of my old dance teachers...I get excited when I see her. :-)

We celebrated my birthday at home with the tradition of a Wegmen's tart. Baby James loves being in pictures.

Probably one of my top three favorite things about my new nephew: his pouty face. This picture does not quite capture the greatness of his perfectly puckered bottom lip which pops out in his greatest pleas for food, but it does the job well enough.
(And no we did not purposely let him cry for a few minutes/delicately scare him a little just to get a good picture of his lip...)

The D.C. Temple!!! After all these years, I got to go in. :-)
Gettysburg: A stay at the Terry's is not complete without a trip to a Civil War battlefield.

More Gettysburg. This is a memorial is dedicated to the men from Virginia who were a part of Pickett's Charge in the Battle of Gettysburg.
"They know that this day's work will be desperate and deadly. They know, that for many of them, this will be their last charge. But not one of them needs to be told what is expected of him. They're all willing to make the supreme sacrifice... to achieve victory, here... the crowning victory... and the end of this war. We are all here, Colonel. You may tell them, when you return to your country... that all Virginia was here on this day."
-General Armistead to a British officer in the movie "Gettysburg"

(That's a shout out to the Terry Family! Hahaha)

Washington Monument

U.S. Capitol

We studied this painting in our Humanities Class! WE'RE SO CULTURED!

Us with the Wright Brother's in the Air and Space Museum!

Us at Mount Vernon, George Washington's home.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery
The tomb reads, "Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God" in honor of all the American soldiers whose bodies were never even identified.

This is the changing of the guard at the tomb. There is a guard who paces back and forth in front of the tomb 24 hours a day and they switch every 30 minutes in the summer. It's a very intricate ceremony to switch them though.

Well, that was a rather long post. Just wanted to keep you (whoever does read this..) up to date with the latest and greatest! Virginia was fabulous and we look forward to spending our Christmas vacation there too. As for now, we're preparing for an exciting/hard Fall semester. Apparently I'm about to become a widow now that Jayce is taking is o-chem class. Eek!

All the best!
