It's Official

Well ladies and gentlemen, it's official: I, Sarah Porter, am running a marathon.
Wooo! I just registered for the American Discovery Trail marathon for Labor Day 2010. I'm running it with two of my sister-in-law's, Jessica and Lindsey. The boys will be waiting for us at the finish line with the food, water, massage tables, and arms with which we will collapse into and cry tears of exhaustion and triumph. Sounds great, eh?

Now, let me let you in on a little secret: I don't love running. I was never one of the fast kids in gym class that got a six minute something mile, I don't enjoy it when running makes my legs itch (Rebekah you can vouch for me with the itchy legs, you know what I'm talking about sister!), it makes me flemmy in my throat (gross, I know), it gives me shin splints, it makes me sore the next day, uphill stinks, and it makes me super red-faced. I know, I know, "Why in the world is this chick putting herself through this??" It's because all of that aside, I have always wished that I enjoyed running! It's so good for you physically and I want to get into better shape. I'm excited to build up my endurance. Running a marathon is also on my list of things to do before I die, so why not now?! It will be a fun girl bonding experience too (because I know I'm going to be wondering why in the world I actually payed money to torture myself about thirteen miles into the marathon and I'll need Jessica and Lindsey to buoy me up). Plus, it's a good excuse to go visit the Nardone's in their new place up in Colorado since they're leaving Provo after this school year to move on to bigger and better things.

Okay, no backing out now: registration is non-refundable and I have officially pronounced it to the world! (Well, the handful of people that even read this blog ;-) )

  2. You go girl. I'm behind you 100 percent, very literally. I will be behind you. Because I won't be running a marathon. Have fun training! Maybe on one of your 5 mile days, I can be your running buddy. Or on your 2 mile days. Or your one mile days...do you even have those?
