True Story

Fact: Sometimes I am brainless. Meaning, sometimes I act in ways in which it would seem as though my brain had shut down completely for a few moments.

Exhibit A:
This evening I went over to the dance majors Christmas party in the Richards Building for a half an hour after work before heading up to the sewing lab. It was great! Yummy food, a white elephant gift exchange, in which I got these lovelies: and door prizes, which consisted of itunes gift cards and yummy cans of hot chocolate. On the very last $10 gift card, I could not believe my ears when they called out "Sarah Porter!" I was excited, that's $10 more towards Christmas music and that's a big deal.

After the door prizes were over, I threw away my plate and cup and started to leave. My first brainless move was realizing I had left my purse. As I turned back to get my purse I realized that I had also misplaced the gift card. Somehow in the few minutes it had taken for me to throw everything away and start walking I had lost the gift card. First reaction? Dig through the garbage...which I did two times with the help of two extremely kind and giving souls. I searched all my pockets, my purse, my wallet, EVERYTHING fathomable and no gift card. Finally, I surrendered and decided to go to the bathroom to wash my hands of the garbage filth. Before leaving the bathroom I decided to take a moment to say a little prayer. Immediately after I stuck my hands in my pockets for the 10th time and what do you know? You guessed it! My gift card, tiny bow attached and all. The only thing that I can think of is that my keys were blocking me from feeling it every time I stuck my hands in. How I missed it every time I don't know, but I know Heavenly Father's looking out for me...even when I'm brainless! :-)

  2. I think that same story has happened to me a dozen times. :) Ask Dave, he'll verify it has. We're SO excited about your news, and I wanted to let you know I sure appreciated your lesson today. Thanks for being such a great example to me since we've been in the ward. I sure look up to you a lot!
