Family Fun

A few weeks ago we had a visit from the beloved Nardone family! Josh gets spring breaks now that he's in dental school...so excited for Jayce to get those later. So, they drove on down and spent a fun week with all the Porter's in Provo. I'm sure they'd say that their favorite part of the visit was sleeping on our couches/air mattress... :-) They picked the perfect week to have spring break though because neither Jayce nor I had any tests that week. It was amazing. It gave us more time to play.
We watched BYU play their last game of the season, fun, but also kind of crushing. Jimmer-we wish you well. Every once in a while during basketball season Jayce would stare out into space and say, "Wouldn't it be nice if I was Jimmer right now? How awesome would that be?" referring to his fame, his soon-to-be fortune, his basketball skills, etc. Well Jayce Face, I'm terribly happy that you are my Jayce Face. :-)

Of course we finished off the week by going up to the cabin, how could we resist? Now that I have baby on board I get pretty paranoid about safety, so because I put up a bit of a stink the boys got out and put the chains on the car once we started making the climb to the cabin. I appreciate it greatly!!

We had to climb over like 7 or 8 feet of snow to get to the front door once we got there. No big deal. Can't wait for all of it to melt!


In honor of our past love for LOST we tried to play the game version. Did we get lost playing LOST? Youuu betcha! That's why I want to shoot myself in the face here. The rules were so complicated! Very fitting I guess.

The games didn't end there though. Here's Jayce coming on to his brother, Scott, in a fun round of Moods. They both practically had tears in their eyes from laughing so hard.
We had a fun visitor up at the cabin this time...Welcome to the cabin David Brodergaurd! He had never taken a "kissy picture" in his life, thus his objection. I think we broke him in pretty good the Porter family.


Soon Scott, very soon. Work up your appetite because she's huuungry! ;-)

Something big arrived in the Porter Family early in the morning on September 29! Spencer's Birth Story

After those last days of trying my hardest to push away the heightening anticipation of Spencer's arrival, he finally arrived two weeks ago today! Now those days seem so far away. It's amazing how quickly the tables turn. Your life seems to be building up to one particular moment for so long and then all of a sudden you're on the other side of that moment and it's like life has never been any different. Here is the last "belly picture" I took before his arrival and I only thought about it because my parents had requested one. The difference between the first and the fourth kid I guess. Mom's Gone

My Mom died in the early hours of June 29 of complications from pneumonia. She was one month shy of her 67 th birthday. I’ll be processing everything from the morning of her death to the day she was buried for a long time. I’m so grateful that I was able to talk to my mom just two days before she passed. I had sat down at my computer after rocking Spencer to sleep and it was quiet time in the Porter house. My mind went blank as soon as I sat down and I relaxed, which is abnormal because I usually feel torn between doing ten things at once when I sit down to “get stuff done” during quiet time. So I thought, “Well, what should I do? It’s been a while since I talked to Mom...” When I asked her how she was she answered, “Well, actually not so good,” and she explained that she had just come home from the doctor’s office where she found out that she had pneumonia.   She filled me in on some details from her appointment and how she had been feeling recently.
