So, did I mention I'm having twins?!
Jayce and I went to my first doctor's appointment of this pregnancy last week and saw this on the ultra sound:
Baby A and Baby B. :-) One of the reasons I wanted to go to this practice was because they do an ultra sound the first visit..score! So, I scheduled it on a day where we could work it into Jayce's schedule. It's always hard for pregnancy to feel real (especially for the husband) when you're not showing yet/able to feel the baby kick and I wanted Jayce to be able to see the "baby" with me so that it could sink in more for both of us. Boy am I glad Jayce was there, because we got quite a shock!
We went in for the ultrasound part first and within the first minute of it starting or nurse said, "So...this is your first appointment for this pregnancy, right?" We said yes (faces beaming). Nurse: "Okay, well let me tell you what I'm seeing here. See these two dark areas? That means that there are two sacks in there. And that means that there are two babies in there!" Ohmygosh. Our jaws literally dropped. Then we looked at each other and busted up laughing. We couldn't stop smiling the whole time, we could hardly believe our ears! It was almost as if Jayce had predicted it because before the appointment he came home from school and said, "So, I had this day dream this morning that we went to our ultrasound and found out that we were having twins! Can you imagine?!" We have joked about having twins for forever but I never actually thought that it would happen! So, I just kind of laughed at what he said and brushed it off. We actually have several close friends who have had twins over the last few years, but twins weren't something that we would ever get in our minds, they always seemed like something that happened to people that we knew/heard of.
I still can't believe it! I look at the picture of the ultrasound everyday for minutes on end. :-) I'm soooo excited!! We just keep praying that they stay with us. The nurse and doctor both said that we have the best possible set up for twins because they have two different sacks and because the wall between the sacks is very thick right now, meaning that they both have their own placenta and are less likely to steal nutrients from each other. We won't know for sure if they are identical or not until they are born though. (Or unless we find out at the 20 week ultrasound that they are a boy and a girl.)
Twins also explains why I have been feeling so sick all the time. I've only thrown up once, but I'm nauseous almost constantly and I have way more "bad days" than I ever did when I was pregnant with Cameron. I just assumed that it probably meant I was having a girl. The nice (but I guess expensive thing) about being pregnant with twins is that you get to go in for check ups more often AND you get to get ultrasounds at all of the appointments. So, I'm counting down the days until my 9 weeks appointment! So far we have 15.5 more days to go! I can't wait. I want to see/hear their little heartbeats again.
We found out the same week of the medical wives half marathon. So, here I am rather proud of my completed half marathon with all three of us. :-)

You ran a half marathon when pregnant with twins?? You go girl! I did marching band while pregnant with mine! lol. You should have a healthy, normal pregnancy. I don't see why you wouldn't, so don't worry too much about them coming early or having complications. While it can happen, I have a good feeling it won't for you. :)
