FOUR BOYS?!

So, we're having a boy. Good thing we love boys around here!! Cameron was more than disappointed at first. When we told the boys that there was a baby in Mommy's tummy months ago, Cameron so sweetly jumped for joy and said, "I hope it's a baby sister!!!!" Since then he has answered every, "Do you want a baby brother or a baby sister?" question with "A baby sister," and has been known to randomly say things like, "Mommy, I already have two brothers, but I don't have a baby sister yet." As if he was putting in an order or just letting me know in a round-about way what he wanted for Christmas.

Welp, next time around buddy! I have to admit that I too had to put my mental "girl hope chest" back on one of the shelves of my brain for safe keeping, but I adjusted quickly and I'm really excited to meet the sweet baby boy kicking around (a lot of kicking around) in my tummy. 

It's ironic that the ballerina who used to think that watching a football game on TV was one of the most boring things in the entire universe is now having her fourth boy, but I'm loving being the mother of these boys. The four of them will most likely be referred to as "The Porter Boys" wherever we live, and it puts a smile on my face. Here's to being the mother of boys!!

Spencer's Birth Story

After those last days of trying my hardest to push away the heightening anticipation of Spencer's arrival, he finally arrived two weeks ago today! Now those days seem so far away. It's amazing how quickly the tables turn. Your life seems to be building up to one particular moment for so long and then all of a sudden you're on the other side of that moment and it's like life has never been any different. Mom's Gone

My Mom died in the early hours of June 29 of complications from pneumonia. She was one month shy of her 67 th birthday. I’ll be processing everything from the morning of her death to the day she was buried for a long time. I’m so grateful that I was able to talk to my mom just two days before she passed. I had sat down at my computer after rocking Spencer to sleep and it was quiet time in the Porter house. My mind went blank as soon as I sat down and I relaxed, which is abnormal because I usually feel torn between doing ten things at once when I sit down to “get stuff done” during quiet time.
