Clean-up

Image
I just had to document this. It was the first time that I only asked Cameron to clean-up once and he did it all by himself. No nagging, no whining. It was such a pleasant surprise, I was proud of him because it was quite the mess and it took him some time. Not perfect, but I'll certainly take it!

These are Cameron's boots: He's had them for a couple of years now and as you can see he has loved them to death. They are always his shoe of choice. I'm thinking Santa's going to bring him some new boots, but I'm a little nervous about how he'll take saying good bye to these bad boys. Sometimes Jack and Ben wake up really grumpy after their naps. If they wake up at the same time and are both grumpy, I'm in for a rough early evening. If they wake up one at a time, life is so much sweeter. Jack woke up first the other day and was really upset, but I immediately handed him pomegranate seeds (thanks Beks!) and a muffin and he gobbled them up and was the most pleasant guy the rest of the evening. I went and bought more pomegranates. We went to go visit Daddy's work a few nights ago and I took this while they were eating and waiting for Jayce to come out and get us. Best for last. You're welcome.

The sweetest old man in Wal Mart gave these guys some dum-dums during our shopping. And the boys loved them. There was swapping going on, and the especially got a kick out of doing this:

Snow Day!

Image
It snowed this week!! There's just something really exciting about the first solid snow and luckily Cameron was just as excited as I was. Jack and Ben were not-so-jazzed at first, mainly because of gloves. They hate gloves. So, Cameron bursts through the door as soon as I've managed to get all of the essentials on him and then I spend a few minutes trying to put gloves on screaming 18-month-olds. Finally I just give up on the gloves and literally leave them rolling around on the floor crying while I step outside with Cameron for a couple of minutes to regain some sanity.  Sanity reclaimed I go back in and manage to get Ben's gloves on. Then I bring him outside with me because I know that if I can just get him in the snow he'll forget the gloves and start having fun. Win! After a minute of helping Ben feel comfortable in the snow I go back in for Jack (who's still tantruming on the floor) and finally just call it quits with the gloves becau...
Yesterday was a roller coaster day as a mom and after I exerted what was left of me during FHE (it was an enjoyable FHE and the kids were cute, but after that I was still zapped) Jayce could tell I was spent and told me to just go shut myself in our room while he got the kids in bed. This is not the first time he has done something like this, and I love him for it. Teamwork. Anyways, after 15 minutes or so Cameron sneaks in and says, "pssst! Mommy, I brought you a present !" and then with an adorable smile he pulls a toy from his room out from behind his back, runs over to me and puts it on my desk. I asked him if I could give him a hug to thank him and he gives me a quick hug before scampering out the door again. 30 seconds later he creeps in again and offers another "present" toy from his room. This happened until I had about 10 toys on my desk and carpet. Oh man, I love that little boy. Before he went to bed he told me to make sure that I put my presents away...

Things of Note

Yesterday Cameron went on a father-son outing to get an oil change and eat lunch with Daddy. He had already hugged me and said goodbye, but as he was walking out the door he told Jayce, "Wait! I forgot something!" and ran back in and planted a kiss on my cheek. :-) Jackson already has a reputation of falling asleep in funny ways, but for the first time Benson fell asleep during lunch! And I caught it on camera. Jack was really excited about playing baseball the other day, but couldn't quite work up to actually swinging the bat. That mixed with Benson having fun being a pot stirrer lately led to this. We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and this is what Jack and Ben's bowls ended up looking like: Jack ate only noodles and Ben ate only meat. I thought it was funny. :-) Jayce went on a daddy-son outing of his own! Aaaaaaaannnnd I knew my family would appreciate a Sarah-is-so-messy-eating shot.

Jayce's 28th Birthday!

November 4th was a good day. We're all big fans of Daddy around these parts and I get so excited to plan a day around him. Hopefully he had as much fun as I did! The beginning of the day had the normal Porter family birthday traditions and then we didn't see him again until we met him and more family at Red Robin for dinner. Nobody at work knew that it was his birthday, so it started feeling very un-birthday day, but I'm hoping we made up for it at dinner! In the morning, Cameron gave him a necklace he made for him the day before. I don't know why, but Jayce decided to take it off before going to work. Hey cute man. :-) I don't know if they'll ever join us for a birthday dinner again, so I had to capture the moment while I had the chance! The sole reason I included this photo was because of Cameron! Some people get really cute smiles when they tell their kids to pose for a picture, and I get this. Our waiter just kept snapping awa...
