The Utah To-Do List: Provo Day
Jayce and I have recently started working on our "things to do before we leave Utah" list. It isn't very long, but there are some things that we just needed to do before we depart for CO.
The first things to check off our list were in Provo. Oh how we love Provo. As we were driving through our old stomping grounds--the dorms, Liberty Square, Beesley, Regency, campus--we realized that Provo will always have a special little place in our hearts. We both have such fond memories there from before we met to the day we moved out with Cameron in tow. I heart you, Provo!

First thing on the list: Hiking the Y, which is much harder than I remember, but that might have had something to do with the fact that I had an extra 23 pounds strapped to me. MAN you're a big fat boy Cameron! ;-)
We ate at our favorite place for lunch, J Dawgs. Mmm..I was tempted to buy their special sauce and take it with me to CO, but I resisted. Did you know they opened another store in Orem? The little shack is all grown up! Way to go J.
Then we walked around campus reminiscing for a while, went through the bookstore, said hi to our favorite buildings and began making our way over to our favorite shaved ice place while walking on our favorite campus trail. They just built this trail last spring and we fell in love with it. It was a trail I walked on hoping to induce labor. Didn't really help, but I don't hold a grudge.
They've added this random garden/pond section with a Buddah looking thing sitting on the waterfall. Some sort of botanical class maybe? It had a bench and was a nice place to sit though.
When we got to the stream along the path we saw that it was RED. And the rivers shall turn to blood? It was weird. We finally ran into a sign that said it was undergoing chemical testing, but enjoyed the odd surprise while it lasted. My favorite part one of the waterfalls that looked really pink!
Finally we reached the shaved ice place. It wasn't quite as enjoyable as ever since our belly's were still full of J Dawgs, but we downed them always for memories' sake!
It was a really great day! We had a lot of fun walking down memory lane together.
Provo, you will be missed!
We are looking forward to growing new roots in Colorado though. It's time to spread our wings and move on to the next chapter in our lives. I know it's going to be crazy with Jayce in medical school, believe me the first thing anybody wants to tell me when I tell them our plans is, "Wow, good luck with that..." or "So, are you ready to be a single mom for the next 4+ years?" Jayce will be really busy with school and it will get really stressful and there will be times when it will seem too hard to bear, I get it. I know that. But in the end it's worth it. Jayce is passionate about a career in medicine and I'm going to support him in that. He's also passionate about me and Cameron, and I know we will find the balance. I've told Jayce before that my goal is to come out of medical school and be able to tell wives in my position now, "Yeah, it is really hard, but you can do it."
Here's to new chapters in life!

Our friends actually own the shaved ice shack you guys went to it's super yummy!! I think you've inspired me to go and hike the Y. I kept using the excuse that it would be too hard with Conner but I am now determined...especially since Mark has never done it! I heart Provo as well :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you three! Danny and I were recently talking about how much we love graduate school. We don't have children yet, and certainly dont know how that would be in graduate school... but kids or not, we know we will look back on these times with so much fondness. We have grown in so many ways both individually and as a couple. I love it. I don't care what anyone says or how hard it gets, and it has been difficult, but it is the best time of our lives... so far. :) Good luck you guys!! Your little man is not so little anymore! Love his sweet face. I look forward to seeing your adventures in Colorado.
