Missing Santaquin
My friend sent me this picture of the boys playing at her house while we were cleaning after loading all of our stuff up to come to Draper. Oh man, what a good picture to remember Santaquin by.
These are the Tobiasson's and we loved living across the street from them for the last year and a half. There are four of them in this picture, but don't be fooled, there are 10 of them total including mom and dad.
One of my favorite memories at their house sums up life at the Tobiasson's pretty well. I went to go sit down on their couch to talk to Becky (mom) and Lydia (4) comes up to me and says, "Hey! Want to see my hedgehog?!" "Of course you guys have a hedge hog," is what passes through my mind before replying, "Yes!" Lydia then picks up the couch pillow right next to me (which I totally could have sat on) and says, "He's right here!" Sure enough a spunky little hedge hog starts crawling right up to me! Not long after that they realized their hedgehog was pregnant and we got to see the little babies right before moving. I told Becky her life is straight out of the Cheaper by the Dozen movies. Oh man, we love them! I also secretly hope that fifteen years from now I get a wedding announcement for a Miss Sophia Carr and a Mr. Watson Tobiasson. And I will go.
I also just saw a photo on Instagram of some of my old friends on a walk with sweet Robyn Marchant to try to get her to go into labor. She was due this week, so they walked down to the gas station and back (up a big hill) to try to get her going. The picture is so good! Such funny moments to be had down there.
A few weeks ago some Santaquin friends surprised me with a little goodbye night. We went to eat at a Thai place nearby and as soon as our waitress left us Annie and I went off about how much she looked like Katniss Everdeen. Annie immediately said, "You guys, who does she look like?!!" trying to remember her name. I couldn't remember at the time either so I said, "Uh...uh...uh..." and then mimed shooting an arrow and Annie finished off with, "Yes! Katniss Everdeen!!" We might have whistled the Mocking Jay tune a couple of times too. She said she gets it all the time.
Well, I got this in a text from Annie last week with the caption: "Katniss says hi."
Other fun memories from that night were discussing the Amazon reviews for Hasbro sugar free gummy bears, watching Becky act out the Ariel on the rock scene in The Movie Game, discovering that Becky has a crazy story for EVERYTHING, and hearing about what happens when Natalie gets strep. Trust me, you ain't had strep like that!
Such great people down there. We feel so lucky that we were able to rent from Glenna and Blair during their mission!
