Porter's in Virginia: Overload of pictures and videos ahead!
I was really nervous about flying with Cameron out to VA because he's so much more active than he was at Christmas time. I didn't think that we would be able to entertain him that long, plus we had a layover this time making our overall travel time a couple of hours longer than the flight at Christmas. I was thinking about drugging him, but Jayce wouldn't allow it. ;-) Luckily he slept for most of the first flight and was in a good mood for the shorter second flight. Hallelujah.
By the way, have you ever been to the airport in Chicago? I think that's where it was, but now I'm second guessing myself... Anyways, this airport was SWEET. It had this huge, dark, light tunnel. It rippled through blue, purple, pink, orange, and yellow and it played storm sounds in the background. It was so calming! We also saw really cool fountains in the airport and the trains were really cool and futuristic. We were impressed.
First thing at Grammy and Grandpa's:
Playing with the food. All of the kids love this box of fake food. I loved watching Cameron interact with his cousins, for such a shy kid he did so well with them!
Our first excursion there was to a farm. It was so awesome too. We picked tons of blueberries (which Cameron ate to his heart's content), played in a corn bin, went down a slide, climbed tires, got in on a petting zoo, and so on. There were soooo many fun things for kids. It was a really cool place.
Talia brought her daycare kids too and man does Clara know how to keep them in line ;-) :
I thought this was pretty funny:
Flower, a miniature pony, and her new baby!
The Corn Bin--who knows how many stalks of corn must have been used for this? It's crazy!
It was a long day:
We also went to Antietam while we were there. It's just not possible to have a Terry vacation without something historical. Antietam is a battlefield from the Civil War. In VA battlefields are like really big outdoor museums. :-) We drove for about an hour to visit Antietam and David, as always, was a fantastic tour guide for us. Antietam is so famous because it's the bloodiest day in U.S. history. There were very heavy losses on both sides and since both the Union and the Confederacy were American, there were a lot of American lives lost. The three main parts are the cornfield (which was pretty much mowed down by the end of the hours of battle ensued in it and littered with blood, smoke, and bodies), the bridge (fought over for hours and in the end nobody could hold it), and the ditch in this picture with Jayce and David:
The ditch was a good idea for the Confederacy until the Union army found a way to come at them from the side and pretty much mow them down where they lay. Bodies everywhere and at the end of the day neither side had gained more ground than they had. It was a draw.
The bridge:
A long lost American hero:
Dad really enjoyed Antietam because it was the only time the entire trip where Cameron let him hold him for a few minutes:
Speaking of my dad, check out this picture of him:
Is he not the greatest stud? This is a picture of a picture. It's in a permanent frame, so I didn't know how else to get a copy of it. I love it!!
The next day Jayce and I watched Clara and Kathryn for a bit and played in the sprinklers!
And then we had a big birthday party for the both of the girls:
I was only going to post one of the silly pictures, but I couldn't decide which face of Rebekah's was more awesome. So, in the end I decided both were phenomenal. :-)
Following the birthday bash, the games began and we had the traditional Halo Party. Three TV's, 10 players at a time, every man's dream.
Periodically I need to thank video games for the great video ops they give me. I thanked Just Dance for this:
And now I get to thank Halo for this. Just watch Jayce's mouth. :-)
Kathryn spent the night at our house on Sunday because the AC broke in their house. Of all things in the hottest week of the summer, right? She loves Uncle Jayce.
On Monday we all went to the Air and Space Museum by the airport so that we could see the Discovery Shuttle. It has taken more trips to space than any other shuttle and was just recently retired. I didn't realize it would be SO stinking massive! You can also see all of it's scorch marks from it's many trips in and out of the atmosphere on her sides.
Dinner on Sunday...that Aunt Bunny.
For FHE on Monday, Rebekah taught the kids about safety. Here are the demos:
I love it! It was a success:
Later that evening the Cam had a great time playing with all of the things at Rebekah and Ben's.
The flights home went really well. Cameron slept for most of both of them because he was so wiped out and on the second flight we had an empty seat by us so we could spread everything out, YES.
Everything had gone so wonderfully and then as we were walking to baggage claim Cameron THREW UP. It was gross, it was all over me, it was all over Cameron, it wreaked, it was slimy...it was another experience of motherhood. Thanks a lot bumpy landing!

HALLOOOO!!! Looks like you guys had fun. I miss VA!! And you!!
