Utah-To-Do List: The Cabin

Jayce and I just love that cabin. It's close enough to go frequently, but far enough away to feel like an escape. We have used it a lot over the few years that we have been married. We recently went up there with some of Jayce's childhood friends, and decided that we will have to go up there once more before leaving for CO. So, we'll do that next week right before we leave.

Here are some details about Trip #1. It was stellar because Jayce and I did a little bit of hiking outside of the normal loop we walk when we are up there. We were walking the normal path and heard constant animal sounds. We could tell that it was a heard of something because there were a lot and it was so loud! It sounded like cattle, so we decided to be adventurous and follow it. We came to a big ravine and on the other side saw TONS of sheep. I'm talking like hundreds of sheep. Some were grazing, some were drinking down at the water, little lambs were just running around blowing off steam, and some were moving in droves to other pastures. It was unbelievable! We enjoyed it so much that we went back to the cabin to wake everyone up so that we could bring them.

In all their glory:

 Here is the ravine:

Jayce and a few others went down there to explore. Jayce and Chandler were able to find a nice grazing area for the sheep. It's beautiful!

Being at the ravine, you really do realize that you are out in the wild though, so it was kind of nerve racking thinking about bears and things that could be close by. Next time we go, we'll probably take bear spray just to be on the safe side.

As if that wasn't enough excitement for the trip, we also had a moose and her calf come to the salt lick outside of the cabin. This was taken from the front porch. Awesome, huh? I had seen a moose up there once before, be we got to see a baby too! Plus, they were really close to us this time. Isn't it so beautiful up there? It was the perfect time to go- great weather, everything was green, the animals were out. It was fantastic.

While we took the canoes out on the lake Cameron entertained himself by playing in the dirt.

Standing!
